Umrah and Hajj official calendar: dates, status and sources

Message Wiki Tours, the guide's publisher

This page is a register, not an article. Each row is one date or one rule that matters to a pilgrim travelling from Morocco: what was published, who published it, and how certain it is. The explanations live in the guide's other chapters. Come here to check a date before you call anyone or pay for anything.

Each row is written to stand on its own. If you quote this page, quote the row with its status and its source, not the value alone: a date marked “estimate” or “to check” is not the same as a confirmed one.

How to read this tracker?

Every row carries one of three statuses, with the same meaning across the page.

Status What it means
confirmed The date or rule comes from the authority that sets it, or the press reported that authority's announcement without ambiguity.
estimate A date calculated in advance, subject to moon sighting. It may move by a day.
to check A rule reported by a news outlet. We have not found its official text for the current season.

The “Source type” column says whether the information comes from an official body or from the press. The small number after each value points to the list of references at the bottom of the page, with the date we consulted each one. The last column leads to the chapter that explains the row.

A row changes status only when a new source justifies it, and every change is dated in the change log further down.

Where is the current Umrah season?

The five rows below all come from one announcement by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which sets both the opening and the closing of the 1448 season1. The closing dates are given in days of Shawwal, with the Gregorian equivalent in the same text, so both date columns rest on one official source.

All five rows carry the “confirmed” status because each one appears in the ministry's announcement1. None of them will move without a new official text, and any change would then be dated in the log below. What these cut-offs mean for a trip during Ramadan is covered by the sister site linked at the top of this page.

When is the next Hajj expected?

Hajj 1448 falls in May 2027, and its dates are still estimates: Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 would begin on 7 or 8 May 2027 (estimate, subject to moon sighting)4. Morocco's official steps for that Hajj are mostly behind us, so we list them first, as they happened, and then the expected dates of the Hajj days in Saudi Arabia.

Morocco's official steps, as they happened

Step Date Status Source type Explained in
Online registration on the website of the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs 8 to 19 December 20253 confirmed, closed press Morocco's Hajj lottery
Hajj 1448 lottery 2 to 13 March 20265 confirmed, closed press Morocco's Hajj lottery
Second payment phase, for waiting-list applicants in lottery order 3 to 11 August 20266 confirmed, closed press and ministry Morocco's Hajj lottery

After the lottery, the final lists and a waiting list were published5. The second payment phase was the most delicate moment of the summer for families: anyone who did not pay in time was automatically replaced from the waiting list6.

The Hajj days in Saudi Arabia

Row Expected date Status Source type Explained in
Start of Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 7 or 8 May 2027 (estimate, subject to moon sighting)4 estimate press Umrah and Hajj glossary
Day of Arafah 15 or 16 May 2027 (estimate, subject to moon sighting)4 estimate press Umrah and Hajj glossary
Eid al-Adha 16 or 17 May 2027 (estimate, subject to moon sighting)4 estimate press Umrah and Hajj glossary

These dates are astronomical calculations published in the UAE press, not an official announcement. For a pilgrim, the dates that count are the ones announced in Saudi Arabia, where the rites take place, and they can differ by a day from the start of the month in Morocco.

Has the following Hajj cycle been announced in Morocco?

To our knowledge, no official announcement about registration for Hajj 1449, the Hajj of 2028, had been found as of 20 October 20262. So this tracker gives no date for it, not even an approximate one.

The only reference point is the previous cycle: registration for Hajj 1448 ran online from 8 to 19 December 2025, with 2 lists, one supervised by the ministry and one for travel agencies3. Nothing says the ministry will use the same weeks again. The previous cycle only tells you which period is worth watching.

When the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs publishes its announcement, we add a row here with its source and its date, record the change in the log below, and update the chapter on Morocco's Hajj lottery once we have read the official text.

Health and visa rules we track

We track these rules the way we track dates, because they set the limits of the trip, starting with the meningococcal vaccination that the Saudi Ministry of Health required in its official document for Umrah 14478. Each rule carries the same statuses as the dates above.

Rule What the source says Status Explained in
Time to use an Umrah visa 1 month from issuance, according to Gulf News; an unused visa is cancelled after 30 days9 to check Umrah visa and documents
Length of stay on an Umrah visa up to 3 months after arrival, according to Gulf News9 to check Umrah visa and documents
Hotel registered on Nusuk Masar since 10 June 2025, no Umrah visa without accommodation registered in a licensed hotel, according to Gulf Business and Khaleej Times, citing the Saudi ministry10 to check Umrah visa and documents
Meningococcal vaccine a quadrivalent (ACYW) or pentavalent (ACYWX) conjugate vaccine within the last 5 years, or a quadrivalent (ACYW) polysaccharide vaccine within the last 3 years, at least 10 days before arrival, in the Umrah 1447 document; the 1448 document was not found8 confirmed for Umrah 1447, to check for 1448 Meningitis vaccine for Umrah
Rawdah visit permit once every 365 days via Nusuk or Tawakkalna, according to Gulf News, citing the ministry (December 2023)12 to check Rawdah permit on Nusuk

The meningitis row needs a word of explanation: an undated press article reported that this requirement had been suspended, but the Saudi Ministry of Health's official document contradicts it, so we did not use it8. Questions about the vaccine itself, and whether it suits a person's health, are for a doctor8.

The visa rows matter most for timing: according to Gulf News, the 1-month window to use the visa replaced a 3-month window around 1 November 20259. In practice, a document issued too early for a parent can therefore lapse before the flight.

Change log

Every change to this tracker is recorded here, newest first: the row, the old and the new status, and the source that justifies the change.

  • 20 October 2026: first inventory of every row; to our knowledge, no official announcement on Hajj 1449 had been found on that date2.

Rows marked “to check” are the first we try to confirm with an official text. We never delete a row whose date has passed: it stays visible, marked “closed”, so the season can be followed from start to finish.

What the sources do not say yet

  • Hajj 1449 dates: to our knowledge, nothing on registration had been published as of 20 October 20262.
  • Exact Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 dates: the month would begin on 7 or 8 May 2027 (estimate, subject to moon sighting), until the official announcement4.
  • The Saudi health document for the 1448 season: we have not found it, so we use the 1447 document8.
  • Ramadan permit rules this season: the latest we found dates from an earlier season, according to Arab News (Ramadan 2023); Ramadan 1448 rules not yet published13.
  • Applying alone from Morocco: as of 20 October 2026, we found no official source confirming that a Moroccan living in Morocco can apply for an Umrah visa alone14.
  • The multiple-entry Umrah visa: it was launched around 20 July 2026 according to Khaleej Times, but whether Moroccans can use it is not known16.
  • Next year's Hajj flights: we have not yet found any source on the flight programme from Morocco.
  • The Hijri dates of the season's opening: our register gives the opening dates in the Gregorian calendar only.

Getting help from an agency

Reading the tracker does not settle who handles what. An agency can prepare the file, register the hotel and arrange transport, but it cannot move any date on this page. Whichever agency you consider, check its licence before you pay, including the licence of this guide's publisher: until the official proof is published, this site claims nothing about it. agenceomra.ma explains how to check an agency's licence. If you want to talk it through, the button below opens a chat with the guide's publisher.

Readers' questions

What does “to check” mean in this tracker?

A news outlet reported the rule, often citing the Saudi ministry, but we have not found the official text that sets it for the current season. We show it because it is useful, and we name the outlet in the same sentence so you can see where it comes from.

Why does the Day of Arafah have two possible dates?

Because the start of Dhu al-Hijjah depends on the sighting of the new moon: the Day of Arafah 1448 would fall on 15 or 16 May 2027 (estimate, subject to moon sighting)4. The row turns to “confirmed” once the official announcement is made.

How do I know a row is still current?

Each small number after a value points to its reference at the bottom of the page, with the date we consulted it. If a source is due for re-checking and we have not done it yet, a notice appears at the top of the page.
